Police in Anambra deploy Safe School Operatives ahead of 2026 UTME

The Police Command in Anambra says it has deployed 60 Safe School Operatives across designated centres in the state, to monitor the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) commencing on Thursday, April 16 until April 26 across the country.

Spokesperson for the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement in Awka.

He said that the initiative was to ensure safety, security, and orderliness throughout the exercise.

“The deployment with the operational base located in the respective eight Police Area Commands in the state, is coordinated by the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in charge of operations, Harrison Oruruo,” he said.

He said the measure formed part of the Safe School Initiative adopted by the command, aimed at providing a secure environment for candidates, invigilators and examination officials.

According to him, the deployment of officers would prevent any form of examination malpractice, or security breach at the centres.

He assured the public of the command’s continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

Meanwhile, he urged candidates and exam stakeholders, to be law-abiding, and cooperate with security officials during the exercise.
