The Lord’s Worshippers Assembly dedicates Covenant Sanctuary, rehabilitates drug addicts in Ajah

It is a dream that came through as the Lord’s Worshippers Assembly in Addo-Ajah, Lagos officially dedicated its multi-million-naira Covenant Sanctuary, an ultra-modern place of worship that symbolizes spiritual growth and community hope.

The dedication of Covenant Sanctuary restored hope for drug addicts in Ajah environs as the ministry through one of its outreaches has started rehabilitating them with skills acquisition. Also it went further to provide plaza where people especially women can access credit for business.
The vibrant dedication ceremony drew distinguished church leaders, influential industry captains, clergy members, representatives from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) Addo-Ajah chapter, and Christian faithful from across Nigeria. The event was presided over by Rev. Dr. Mercy Ezekiel, General Overseer of the Christian Pentecostal Mission International (CPM).

Rev. Dr. Ezekiel praised the new sanctuary as a milestone achievement, describing it as both architecturally beautiful and a testament to the resilience and vision of the local church leadership. “This structure is one of the finest places for worship, and I thank God for blessing us with it despite numerous challenges”.
In addition, the Senior Pastor, Oliver Bible Church, Owen Nlekwuwa in his message themed “Explosive Grace,” emphasised about the divine partnership between God and His people in building lives and communities.
He urged attendees to honour their commitments to God, associating dedication with both spiritual and physical endeavors. Drawing from biblical stories of faith and divine favor, he encouraged believers to harness God’s “explosive” grace—an empowering force capable of transforming lives and societies through unwavering faith and covenant-keeping.
In a media chat, the church’s General Overseer, Rev. Calistus Anunobi Nkwo, said, “the unveiling of the sanctuary is a fulfillment of a long-held dream, saying that it stands as a beacon of hope, excellence, and divine faithfulness. “This is more than a building; it’s a symbol of what faith, perseverance, and dedication can achieve. It will serve as a hub for spiritual renewal and community transformation.
His wife, Pastor Helen Nkwo, expressed joy over the project, highlighting its role in uplifting the local community. She shared her optimism about the church’s outreach initiatives, particularly targeting youth empowerment, drug rehabilitation, and family support. “With this new sanctuary, we expect to see significant positive changes in Addo-Ajah, especially among the youth”.

She encourages that churches should be involved in empowering their members. “Here, we have built an empowerment project. You can see on the ground flow of that building there, you have the mini mart where women who can’t even afford shops can make their produce and showcase there, and it can be sold for them and they carry their proceeds without owning a shop. Indirectly, the church has provided a platform for them to own a space in a mini mart. You go to the second floor, you have a microfinance bank where they can actually access micro credit and start-up something for themselves.

Again, we are getting involved with rehabilitation of drug addicts, even empower them with skills. And we are getting results because some of them are doing well.

So, the truth is that we believe in empowerment, not just the women, but with those who are coming up, we stretch a hand and give them a lift.
In the same vein, Chairman of the Planning Committee, David Echegwusi said that the celebration coincided with Children’s Day and his birthday, featuring outreach programmes such as dinner with rehabilitated drug addicts and community service by the Women of Dynamic Excellence. He praised the transformative impact of these efforts, noting that many of those involved have undergone remarkable personal renewal and now contribute positively to society.
Reflecting on the event’s significance, Echegwusi emphasized, “This outreach is truly a work of grace. Seeing those once troubled now thriving and helping with the project shows how faith can turn lives around. It’s especially vital in an era where social vices threaten our youth. We thank God for this incredible transformation.”
The dedication of the new Covenant Sanctuary marks a significant chapter in the church’s journey of faith, community service, and hope—an inspiring testament to the power of divine grace and collective effort.
