A tech team has introduced a new AI-powered Chrome extension called Alfred, designed to help businesses operate faster and reduce the constant switching between apps.
Speaking on the innovation, the creator, Osaro Imohe, a software engineer specialising in applied AI, said, “Our team created Alfred to solve the challenge of getting real value from AI in everyday work. Before now, people had to leave what they were doing, open ChatGPT in another tab, ask questions, and then return to their task. That constant switching slows people down.”
According to him, Alfred sits directly inside the browser as a side panel, allowing users to ask questions and interact with any AI model without leaving their current tab.
He explained that the extension also connects to tools such as Gmail, calendars and other business apps, giving the AI access to information that ordinary chatbots cannot access.
“Most AI tools can’t tell you things like; ‘What emails did I receive this week?’ because they don’t have access to your data. Alfred solves that by integrating deeply with the tools you use daily”.
The founder noted that the product went through several early experiments, including AI workflow builders and business data aggregators, but users showed greater interest in a simple, browser-based tool.
He said, “Alfred is currently in beta, with several users already testing it. The feedback has been amazing. People tell us they can’t imagine working without it,” he said.
Looking ahead, he explained that the team plans to make Alfred more proactive, allowing it to suggest tasks and help users complete activities automatically.
“Since Alfred runs as a browser extension, we can see the tools people use and recommend helpful actions without them asking. That’s the future we’re excited about”.
He added that the team is also exploring ways to display useful information directly inside existing apps. For example, in Gmail, Alfred could automatically show you everything your company knows about the person emailing you”.
