The Tinubu Support Group TSG has charged beneficiaries of government appointments from its fold to prioritize the welfare of fellow members, urging them to “carry others along” to ensure a broader distribution of support across the network. The appeal was made during the grand finale of the TSG’s free Ramadan feeding programme and inter-faith breaking of fast held in Abuja on Monday night. The organization, which has been a cornerstone of President Bola Tinubu’s political machinery since 2020, played a pivotal role in the 2023 presidential campaign.Addressing a crowd of supporters, Director General of TSG, Dr Umar Tanko Yakasai, reminded members that while the desire for service is high, official government positions are numerically limited.”One thing that all of us must remember is that we all cannot be appointed because of the limited number of positions available in the government. The few of us who have received appointments should do everything humanly possible to carry as many members of the support groups along as we can. This is essential to distribute patronage and complement the president’s efforts to reward party faithful”, he said.Dr Yakasai noted the efforts of TSG founder, Hon. James Faleke, and commended his consistency in ensuring that members of the Presidential Campaign Council PCC and various support groups were recognized and integrated into Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs.Throughout the Ramadan and Lenten season, the TSG, with the support of Hon. Faleke, said it provided daily meals and drinks to residents across the Federal Capital Territory FCT observing both holy seasons.Yakasai noted that this “benevolent gesture helped many break their fast with dignity and honour.”The event, which drew a diverse crowd of Christian and Muslim faithful, party leaders, and government appointees, also served as a platform for calls for national unity.A former three-term member of the House of Representatives from Delta State, Hon. Mercy Almona-Isei, observed that the simultaneous occurrence of Ramadan and Lent offered profound lessons in harmony. She urged Nigerians to shun tribalism and religious bias, emphasizing that progress is impossible without peace.”Though times are difficult globally, we have a leader who is focused and ready to tackle issues that others avoided,” she said.
