Councillors from Nigeria’s 774 Local Governments at the weekend teamed up with the “City Boys Movement” with a view to ensuring a seamless re-election of President Bola Tinubu in next January’s Presidential election.President of the National Councillors Forum of Nigeria, Hon. Evoh Okechukwu Nwikegwu, declared that the nation’s 8,809 councillors are ready to leverage their influence across 176,836 polling units to ensure a landslide victory for the president.Nwikegwu described the partnership between the councillors and the City Boys Movement, led by Seyi Tinubu as an unstoppable force. He emphasized that as the closest representatives to the people, councillors are the “vanguards” of progress.”The figures are staggering. This is a movement poised to sweep across the nation. Any agenda that seeks to undermine this will be rendered a futile attempt to obstruct progress”, Nwikegwu said. The Forum president hailed the Tinubu administration as a “game-changer” for Nigeria, specifically citing the restoration of Local Government autonomy as a landmark achievement.”Restoring power and funding to the third tier of government. Major investments in national stability. Expansion of programme s aimed at the poor and vulnerable. A renewed focus on farming and the rural economy,” he cited as the basis for supporting Tinubu.Nwikegwu lauded Seyi Tinubu, describing his leadership of the City Boys Movement as “visionary” and a “beacon of hope” for the youth and the grassroots. He noted that the South East is “abuzz with excitement” to welcome the movement, signaling a shift in the region’s political alignment ahead of the next polls.”We are ready to ride the tide of progress. Let us show the world that we are a people committed to progress and determined to succeed”, he said.
