Electronic technology hardware firm, MiGO Mobile, has entered into a strategic partnership with Covenant University, Ota, to strengthen research, innovation and skills development among Nigerian students, as part of efforts to deepen indigenous technology capacity and reduce reliance on imported devices.The partnership was announced on January 29, 2026, during the launch of a Care and Research & Development (R&D) Centre and a scholarship awards ceremony at the CUCRID Auditorium of the university.As part of the collaboration, MiGO Mobile awarded scholarships and ambassadorial recognitions to outstanding students across academic levels. One of the major beneficiaries, Ogunmola Olaoluwa Ayomide, a 100-level student, emerged as a MiGO Scholarship Awardee, securing a N2.2 million scholarship covering his studies from 100 to 500 level, with an estimated total value of over ¦ 10 million.Other recipients included Ibiyemi Olaoluwa David (500L scholarship awardee); Osadare Anjolaoluwa Hephzibah (100L ambassador winner); Owonubi Isaac Oluwasemilore (200L); Odeleye Ifeoluwa Akorede (300L); and Anjola Oluwa Aniyikaye Oluwatunmise (400L).Speaking at the event, MiGO Mobile Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mr. Ademola George, said the partnership was aimed at equipping students with cutting-edge skills while fostering a strong R&D culture.“This partnership is about unlocking the potential of young minds and driving innovation in Nigeria,” George said, adding that MiGO manufactures mobile phones, tablets, smart watches and power banks, with plans to retail its products at MTN outlets nationwide.Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Prof. Timothy Anake, described the initiative as transformational, noting that the R&D centre would provide hands-on exposure to technology production and entrepreneurship.Registrar of the university, Mr. Emmanuel Igban, said the partnership would strengthen the institution’s scholarship framework and prepare students for leadership in Nigeria’s digital economy.
