Four men on Tuesday, appeared before an Abeokuta Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting two men. The defendants are: Ibikunle Idris, 27, Adelola Babatunde, 27, Iseoluwa Kamil, 24, and Folorunsho Olugbenga, 54. The defendants with no fixed address were arraigned on a seven-count charge bordering on conspiracy, assault occasioning harm, assault, and malicious damage, to which they pleaded not guilty.The prosecutor, ASP Lawrence Olu-Balogun, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on March 4, at about 11:00 a.m. at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ojere area in Abeokuta.Olu-Balogun alleged that the defendants conspired among themselves and others now at large, to commit felony to wit: assault occasioning harm.He further alleged that the defendants assaulted Olalekan Olubodun and Kehinde Tejuosho, inflicting injuries on them during the incident.“The defendants and the two complainants were having a discussion, which led to an argument. The defendants assaulted Olalekan Olubodun by giving him fist blow on his right hand and mouth which caused him bodily harm. They also assaulted Kehinde Tejuosho by giving him fist blow on his body, nose and mouth which caused him injury,” he saidAccording to the prosecution, the defendants also destroyed a pair of Dior slippers valued at N50,000, belonging to Kehinde, as well as a Redmi Note 11S mobile phone valued at N210,000, property of Olalekan.The prosecutor noted that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 516, 355, 351 and 451 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun 2006.The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.K. Araba, granted them bail in the sum of N1million, adding that the sureties must be registered licensed Bondsmen.She also ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Ibara Correctional Center pending perfection of their bail.She adjourned the case until April 13, for hearing.
