The General Overseer of the Christian Pentecostal Mission (CPM), Rev. (Dr.) Mercy Ezekiel, has urged Christians to uphold integrity and live lives free of corruption and scandal, describing public service as an opportunity to reflect the character of Jesus Christ.
Rev. Ezekiel gave the charge while speaking at the 60th birthday and retirement thanksgiving service of the Senior Pastor of The Lord’s Worshippers Assembly, Ajah, and Convener of the Lifted Life Rehabilitation Centre, Pastor (Mrs.) Helen Nkechi Nkwo (née Echegwisi), held in Lagos recently.
Celebrating Pastor Nkwo’s retirement as Deputy Manager, Business Development and Bids at NETCO, a subsidiary of NNPC Limited, Rev. Ezekiel commended the cleric for maintaining an exemplary record throughout her public service career.
She said Pastor Nkwo had demonstrated that it was possible to serve both God and the nation faithfully without compromising Christian values or becoming entangled in corruption.
According to her, the celebrant’s life reflects the teachings of Jesus Christ and should serve as a model for believers, particularly those entrusted with positions of responsibility in public institutions.
She urged Christians to cultivate the habit of diligent Bible study and emulate Christ by living uprightly in every aspect of life, especially while serving in government and other public offices.
Beyond ministry, Pastor Nkwo has devoted herself to humanitarian service through the Lifted Life Rehabilitation Centre, an initiative she established after observing the growing challenge of substance abuse among young Nigerians despite the country’s abundant human potential.
Motivated by the increasing number of youths battling addiction, she founded the rehabilitation and transformation centre to provide recovery, counselling, rehabilitation and hope for individuals struggling with substance dependence.
Her husband, Rev. Callistus Nkwo, the General Overseer of The Lord’s Worshippers Assembly, joined family members, church leaders, friends and well-wishers to celebrate the twin milestones.
The thanksgiving service featured moving testimonies from beneficiaries of the rehabilitation centre, who recounted how the intervention had transformed their lives and restored them to productive living. Guests also reflected on Pastor Nkwo’s decades of faithful service in ministry, humanitarian outreach and professional excellence.
A native of Umuovo Village in Old Umuahia, Abia State, Pastor Nkwo is also the founder of Goldendline Secondary and Vocational Schools, where she has continued to promote education, skills development and youth empowerment alongside her ministerial assignment.
