Russian President, Vladimir Putin is not ready to negotiate because North Korea is supplying Russia with enough missiles and personnel to kill more Ukrainians, apart from Iranian drones which Russia has effectively used against Ukraine. Again, many of the sanctions by EU, UK, US have not been strictly monitored, so Putin has from time to time circumvented such sanctions. He has not really been pressured with any effect from sanctions to negotiate for peace and end the war he started in February 2022. This is another reason all the blames against Ukrainian President from President Trump before now to appease Putin ended up giving Ukraine conditions that if accepted will mortgage the future of Ukraine.
Your correspondent is of the opinion that if Putin must think of ending this war, Washington, the G7 nations must thinking of stopping countries supplying weapons to Russia. As long as Putin is getting these weapons to support his war in Ukraine, while Ukraine struggles for air defense, Putin will not end the war. He will continue to dig deeper, killing innocent children, the elderly because he has not achieved his objectives for the invasion of Ukraine.
It is a high time to stop these killings. The more North Korea supplies weapons, the more the war continues, the more Ukrainians are killed. President Trump should call countries supplying weapons to order. Ukraine is ready for negotiation.
The war has consumed millions of people from both sides over territory. Both countries are no more safe.
From what we have seen so far, Putin is not ready to stop owing to the following reeasons, he believes military exhaustion favors Russia; his domestic economy relies heavily on wartime production, and any settlement short of total capitulation undermines his imperial goals and political survival.
Putin believes Russia has more people and equipment, letting his army slowly win a grinding war of attrition. But the dynamics of the game has changed.
Consequently, accepting a peace deal means admitting Ukraine is a free, independent country with a legitimate government, which goes against his core ideology.
He sees controlling Ukraine as his historic mission to restore a Russian sphere of influence or empire.
Wartime Economy: Millions of Russian workers now rely on high-paying jobs in the military-industrial complex.
Fear of Demobilization: Stopping the war risks massive economic shocks, inflation, and social unrest when hundreds of thousands of armed veterans return home looking for work.
But unfortunately this calculation has not yielded desired results – the war is still dragging for 4 years plus, and Ukraine is put up strong resistance changing the dynamism of the war.
